In this overview several oscillatory magnetic properties are discussed for a particular model system. We have chosen epitaxial fcc Co films grown on Cu(100) as the base structure and have selected additional epitaxial overlayers to study interlayer exchange coupling, induced magnetic moments, magneto-optical properties, and magnetic anisotropy.
