Parallelization of Cellular Automata Code and Its Performance on Two Types of RS/6000 Clusters

We describe a method to effectively parallelize a Cellular Automata simulation for execution on a distributed-memory parallel architecture. We also present experimental timing measurements and analysis of this algorithm, and compare the performance of this parallel program implemented in Express running on an RS/6000 cluster connected via Ethernet, with its performance when implemented in EUI running on an RS/6000 cluster connected via the VULCAN switch.
