E-Governance Solution for Government of Maharashtra

As more and more governments across the world move to electronic governance, it becomes important to understand the issues involved, the options available and the tradeoffs of choosing amongst the various options. This whitepaper, motivated by the requirements of a customer, is intended to provide a fertile starting point for governments and solution architects. The whitepaper elaborates upon e-governance objectives and the requirements of an e-governance solution. It proposes a utility model for an e-governance solution based on a hierarchical web server farm approach which uses intranet and extranet for interfacing to various stakeholders like governments, businesses and citizens. Technological options and issues for various components of the solution are also briefly discussed.
