On the Security of Digital Video Distribution Systems

        This paper discusses issues related to security in digital video distribution systems. Topics of examination include private, public, and hybrid key cryptosystems used for data encryption and decryption. Work done by standardization bodies such as MPEG, DAVIC, and DVB is also summarized. Relevant practical issues regarding the conditional access system for a typical broadcast TV system and other products available in the industry are highlighted.
