2-D Simulations of In-Plane Switching Mode LCDS

The electro-optic performances for three major configurations of in-plane switching (IPS) mode LCDs are carried out based on 2-D simulations of electric field and LC director distributions inside the cell. The results not only help us to have a better understanding of IPS mode operation but also shed light on how to select a IPS configuration for a set of conditions and how to optimize its design.
