Typical examples of computing services are printers, fax machines, mail servers, file servers, news servers, etc. A host needs to be configured with these service parameters to be able to use the corresponding services. When a mobile host moves to a foreign network, it would also like to discover services on the foreign network. A protocol that allows the mobile user to locate resources in both home and local network is presented. This protocol requires enhancements to the Multicast mechanisms of Mobile IP protocol and to the service location protocol to being defined by IETF.
