Estimating performance model of a business web site from response times in stress test

We describe a performance model of a whole business web site based on a queueing network. Although the end-to-end performance of a web site is recently a serious concern of a site owner, short development cycle makes it difficult to thoroughly ensure the performance. A performance model would be a complementary tool to a stress test in the development. For this purpose we made a model defined directly from an implementation of a web application. We also estimated better parameters of the model from response times of server applications because response times are obtained easily from server log files in a stress test. The result of an experiment using a sample business web application is also shown.
