Issues for Context Services for Ubiquitous Computing

Context-aware computing has the potential to greatly alleviate the human attention bottleneck. To facilitate the development of context-aware applications, we envision a context service that provides standardized support for applications. It supports both synchronous queries and asyn-chronous event notifications. It also addresses privacy concerns by providing controls that allow people to limit the release of their context information.
