Security and Policy Management Issues in Automation Controller Design

Subscription computing is the provision of a computing infrastructure as a service.
Subscription computing relocates much of the responsibility for selecting, configuring, and maintaining a computing infrastructure to a remote service provider. To reduce the operating costs associated with remote management, we designed and implemented an Automation Controller to automate some aspects of systems management. In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of the automation controller prototype for a user management system. Specifically, we address the technical challenges related to security and policy management.
