Reduction in Round Trip Time by Using Content Distribution Networks

It is well-known that a content distribution network can reduce the client-perceived response time of
a web site by bringing the content closer to the clients. The reduction in client-perceived response time is strongly dependent on the average round-trip time experienced by the clients. In this paper we quantify the reduction in round-trip time that can be experienced by placing surrogate servers in a network.
