MPEG-7 Face Descriptor Syntax

This report is a copy of a proposal to the MPEG-7 standards committee concerning how to generate database annotations describing human faces found in video clips. This proposed descriptor has provisions for recording gross properties of the scene, such as the positions and arrangement of detected faces, as well as fine details, such as feature vectors useful for face recognition. The report includes a detailed presentation of a particular datastructure as well as some examples of how to compute and use the information embedded in it.
