SMART GPRINT Specification

After a short introduction on SMART architecture this report describes the General Purpose Processor Interface module (GPRINT) of the SMART chip. This functional unit provides an interface (synchronous or asynchronous) to an external microprocessor and several internal interfaces to other modules of SMART. These modules operate with clocks that are determined by the actual configuration of the chip. Therefore, all internal interfaces operate in asynchronous mode. Global configuration information is written on the GPRINT by the microprocessor; module-specific configuration data is forwarded by the GPRINT to the modules. Status and counter information is read out from the modules via GPRINT. Other features of the GPRINT include individual module resetting, clock monitoring and interrupt handling.
