Exploratory Projection Pursuit is a statistical technique for identifying structure in high-dimensional multivariate datasets. We discuss various computational issues associated with this technique including sphering and outlier detection, marginal density smoothing, higher-order optimization methods for index maximization, and statistical validation studies
