In this paper, we will provide an analysis of enterprise architecture for IP based voice systems. The focus within the enterprise for the past several years has predominantly centered on the requirements for individual services, as opposed to a holistic, cross services approach. Individual service implementations can create islands of IP voice service which are often difficult to integrate with other IP voice services. Enterprises should view the IP voice environment the same way that data application environments are viewed. Enterprise IP voice environments should be built using common building blocks of network and voice infrastructure which can support a variety of voice applications, services and endpoints. This paper will explore the next generation of enterprise architecture for IP based voice systems.
